We are extremely proud to announce that Peter Solvang, Managing Director of DP & Marine Assurance Norway is the first CMID Accredited Vessel Inspector – with accreditation number 001.
The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) chose the final day of Ocean Business at Southampton (16 April) to announce the eagerly awaited start date for the IIMS accredited vessel inspectors (AVIs) scheme, for CMID work on a worldwide basis as 1 June. The first accreditations was announced on the 9th June 2015.
The Common Marine Inspection Document (CMID) provides a standard format for inspection of offshore vessels, including large ships right down to smaller workboats. The purpose of this process is to provide a structure for the audit, or inspection of commercial vessels used in the offshore industry, conducted by vessel inspectors working on behalf of owners or clients.
First CMID Vessel Inspector
Peter Solvang said: “it’s a real privilege to be the first CMID Vessel Inspector accredited and I look forward to working with our customers worldwide in providing Common Marine Inspection Document’s (CMID’s) for their vessels.
